It's one of the toughest sports today~
Having to step into the ring with a person who wants to
literallly beat you to death and is train to do it. Thats amazinly tough.

My favorite boxer is Manny Pacquiao. He's fast and powerful, like a lighting. He's all offense and he's an entertaining fighter. He always gives
a good fight because he's so dominant on offense. cheers

i want to try boxing, want to see how much it hurts, i bet it hurts alot cuz i punched myself lightly with boxing gloves only and it hurt, the glove rubs against the skin and pulls, so imagine rubbing a balloon and the balloon is your skin. its probably better than a real fight tho, like the UFC

After i stopped taking Ryu Kyu Kempo i took up boxing for about a year and a half out of a gym in Kansas by where my home is. It was sponsored by Title Boxing the distributor for boxing supplies in the mid-west. I competed in the Junior Light Heavyweight division. It was fun, keeps your mind sharp and focused, plus it sets realistic goals to try and push yourself. I enjoy the martial arts and loved boxing, keeps you in shape and gives you the oppertunity to become more aware of how your mind and body work together. My favorite boxer probably has to be Larry Holmes, a classic boxer who trained under Muhhamud Ali. His powerfull jab was the secret to his success, plus he took the title from Ken Norton after Ken Norton held the heavyweight title when Ali got out of boxing. Larry Holmes also hold the record for holding onto the heavyweight title the longest. A damn good boxer, i recommend his biography "Against The Odds" its a very good read Very Happy . These days i would have to say Tarver is pretty good since he took the title from Roy Jones but its been awhile since i watched a good match Sad .

yea, holmes is good too. i had to do a project on him for school. but when he fought ali, ali was way past his prime and it wassnt really a fair fight with alis age and all. but im not complaining. for a good fight watch floyd maywether jr. hes undefeated. but hee just retired after beating de la hoya, even though i dont the hes going to stay retired.

In the real world you can do more than punch

i like ufc too. but i hav always been a fan of boxing. and ufc will 1 day become less popular than it is right now, the same way boxing did. b/c there r more and more rules coming into the sport.

i prefer boxing over UFC because UFC matches always turn into a ground battle which is not very exciting because of the decreased chance of a turn around win. In boxing however the tables can turn on someone at any moment because one well placed punched can drop someone.

Good call with Larry Holmes, Bahr. I would definitely include him in my top 10 greatest heavyweight fighters of all time, with Muhammad Ali himself on the top.

Yea Holmes is my favorite, i would say that him and Ali in terms of skill are dead even, especially since Holmes trained with Ali and displayed some of Alis strengths, like quick strong jabs, and the famous "rope a dope".

I agree with you. UFC would be a lot better if almost all the fights did not hit the ground and become wrestling matches.

A very underrated boxer, indeed, as people seem to have forgotten about him. People don't realize that he was undefeated for all those years you mentioned, only losing to Michael Spinks late in his career when he was way past his prime.

hard working man indeed, but wait a second, "where should I put my bet?"

when the wage is high enough he would lose his score. a thrid world's sport, being a man, but just using as a dog. (have nothing to lose that's how it wins, if you see what I mean)

and that's exactly the army preachs you to be. (why they send me free tickets)

1 respect for this person but 0 respect for this so called "sport". I am a player not a playee on a sport!
