American Beauty is about looking "Closer" into the person within yourself and finding that essence that you've been missing. You live your everyday like so repeativiely as if you were a robot and you forget to realize all the (beauty) that surrounds you. When you focus on the smalliest things in your everyday life~ you start to see the contrast and the colors that surrounds your own life.

My favorite scene in the movie was when Ricky Fitts showed a video of the most (Beautiful thing) he's ever video tape. He showed the video and it was a simple white plastic groccery bag that has been caught in a wind. The bag inspired Ricky to see this entire life outside of his own.

You have to watch the scene to understand. It's one of the most powerful scene and meaniful scene in cinema. I love that scene (^_^).

I happen to agree with franq there, about being promiscuous. While a 3 or 4 some can appear to be a "dirty" sex practice, if it was done with the same 3 or 4 people, then it could almost be the same as sex with a single person (almost). Its not necessarily the acts themselves, but the feelings behind them. Using someone for the sake of sex, meaning sex for the sake of sex.
